| The
programs CLT Advanced and COMCYL are spreadsheet programs for performing basic
laminate calculations. Both programs have READ ME files that should be read prior
to using the programs. It is assumed that the user has some basic knowledge of laminate theory and have good spreadsheet skills to really take advantage of the Excel features such as, solver and goal seek that can find iterative solutions that may require a lot of time with some other laminate programs. COMCYL is a program for evaluating global loads only for a cylinder and is much easier to use than CLT Advanced. The usual R/t >10 and other assumptions apply to keep that the error is small. The READ ME file has a listing of additional details. This program written in the mid-eighties is still used for design of rocket motor composite cases. CLT Advanced is a full feature laminate analysis. It has been developed to take advantage of the open aritecture and take It includes micromechanics, laminate programs for mid-thickness and in the x and y axes neutral bending axes, stress and strain calculations, buckling, and strength evaluation by several failure theories. A useful feature is that a laminate can be saved (or copied) into the Laminate worksheet that can be easily modified. It has been carefully checked against other commercial laminate programs. Please make a copy as it is very easy to overwrite calculation cells. The CLT Advanced program has been evaluated by several people in the FRP industry and the evaluation was that it is user hostile for input and output. If there is somebody out there that wants to spend the time on developing a user friendly format, please contact me. I will send the programs to the email address in the application form.
